Today, Bovin Winery exports over 1.5 million litres of wine to 38 countries around the world.
But where does the name come from ? “Bovin” originates from the fusion of the surname of the Macedonian brothers Bogevski, owners of the wine cellar established in Macedonia, and the word “vin”(wine).
For more than two decades, bottles bearing the “Bovin” label have been synonymous with top-quality wines in the country. The vineyards are located in the Tikves wine-growing region, known for its optimal geographical location offering ideal climatic conditions for growing different grape varieties.
It all began in 1998, when the Bogevski brothers, having raised sufficient funds, built the winery with a capacity of 100,000 litres, just for bottled wines. Bovin Winery was the first private winery in Macedonia. Since the 2000s, several of their wines have won numerous awards.
Our “Alexandar” wine is so famous that it was served at the wedding of Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.
In 1999 and 2000, at the Agro-Expo fair in Skopje, ‘Venus’ won the title of champion in the red wine category, and all our other wines were awarded gold medals.
Bovin continued to win the title of red wine champion for seven years running at the “Agro-Expo Fair 2001, 2002 and 2003” in Skopje with the red wine “Dissan” and in 2004 and 2005 with “Daron”. This is the most prestigious award at the fair, and real proof of the quality of Bovin wines.
